USIK Construction cc. Was established in July of 1995. The company was founded by Marcel Matusik. Prior to founding the company, Marcel Matusik had completed his T4 studies at the Pretoria Technicon. Thereafter he was employed for two and a half years by KTK Construction in Pretoria. During his employment there he was personally responsible for the erection of a twenty five unit town house complex, two luxury homes, and a five storey showroom for Mercedes Benz. Marcel realised that with this practical experience, and the Technicon training, he would be able to run his own business. Therewith, he contacted two personal friends with the proposal. As a result, when the company was founded, there were three partners in the business, with Marcel Matusik holding 50%, Graham Potgieter 25%, and, David Austin, the remaining 25% of the shares.

During the year of 1997, USIK Construction was awarded a contract in Hermanus, in the Western Cape. Therewith, Marcel moved the business to Hermanus, as the demand for USIK Construction's services increased. As a result the two smaller share holders, sold their shares to Marcel, who then became sole owner of the company. As the business grew and the demands on Marcel increased, he decided to take on a new partner, to help carry the load. As Jason Meiring, who was employed by USIK Construction, had shown positive interest in the business, Marcel offered him 25% share in the business. As a result it was decided to enlist the company as a propriety limited, and herewith the application made. In 2003 USIK Construction cc. then became USIK Construction (Pty)Ltd.

Our work force all have legal contracts and are dealt with accorringly. Zingisa Labour Relations deal with all our in house labour issues and contracts.

Our employees and directors are paid with the aid of “SPECTRUM” pay systems. The system is regularly updated by the company, and is in keeping with the South African law and SARS.

At USIK Construction we do our utmost, to keep ourselves abreast with all the new levies, taxes, building bodies, and general legislations, so as to keep our company legal and in keeping with the general business consensus, in South Africa.

Our financial year end is anually on, 28 February.

Currently all our financial statements are up to date, and have been signed off by the auditors and a copy forwarded to the receiver of revenue.


CONSULTANTS

We are currently using PSG Consulting for all our future planning as well as our estate planning. PSG also assist in our short term insurances, as well as the establishment and maintaining of all our medical cover.

USIK Construction is registered with various building bodies, some voluntary and others due to government laws.

NATIONAL HOME BUILDERS REGISTRATIONAL COUNCIL

Our registration number 5430.

The NHRBS is a government organisation, that states that they will issue a 5 year guarantee certificate, to the employer/client once the construction is completed, and occupation has taken place. This certificate will ensure that action be taken to rectify any structural defects to the dwelling for a period of five years.

As we are registered with the organisation, we must under law register every contract with them. However, this excludes any alterations, part demolitions and additions. In other words only new dwellings will be registered.

The cost of this registration is worked out on the addition of the cost of the plot, and the construction cost. Dependant on the amount totalled, a levy percantage will be applied, and the multiplication total will be payable. The percantage will vary as the costs reach certain mile stones.

We at USIK Construction, will ensure that all the relevant information and forms be forwarded to the NHBRC, and that all their requirements are met.

Note
The banks will no longer pay out any money to the client, unless they are in possession of an origianl NHBRC certificate.


MASTER BUILDERS ASSOSIATION (BOLAND)

USIK Construction is registered with the MBA. This i s a privileged membership that, only certain construction firms are part to, as there are various requirements that must be met, so as to be affiliated to this body.

The MBA is a facilitating body which assists the contractor and client during the building process. Should the contractor or client need any information or advise during the contract, they may contact the MBA free of charge. The MBA have access to many different professionals in the building industry, and are very helpful at times.

The MBA may also be called in to assist with any legal issues relating to building contracts.
